INTEGRAL REFORM PROJECT – INTERIOR DESIGN OF A HOUSE IN SANT GERVASI

Project Description

INTEGRAL REFORM PROJECT – INTERIOR DESIGN OF A HOUSE IN SANT GERVASI

A comprehensive reform that manages to bring natural light to the last corner of the house.

The complete reform of this apartment was a very significant before and after since it was originally a very old house in terms of structure, distribution and arrangement. Pia Capdevila, responsible for the project, adapted it to the new needs of the owners.

The house includes an open area that contains the living room, dining room and kitchen, four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The main objective of this reform was to bring natural light to the whole house from the day area which, due to its south orientation, is the one that receives direct sunlight. The hall of the house, located in the central part, and the night area did not receive natural light.

To enhance and make the most of the natural light, Pia Capdevila eliminated all the compartments and moved the rooms that could best be illuminated with artificial light – the courtesy toilet and the girls’ bathroom – to the darkest areas of the house. The kitchen was opened to the living room and dining room so that the entire day area could enjoy that entrance of natural light that was achieved with the reform and became a large space to move around and enjoy with the whole family in a unique space with the kitchen, dining room and living room.

The protagonist of all the interiorsm of the house is the black color, which is repeated in each of the rooms. The light sand color of the walls and the gray pickled oak wood, which is repeated both on the floor of the entire house in herringbone format and in specific details in each room, help to enhance light.
